Wakenfolk
Don’t destroy the monster army. Free it, and watch it turn and fight for you.
Wake them, and they fight for you
Wakenfolk is a story tower defense game built for one thumb in portrait. A grieving king has sung the whole Vale to sleep, and his sleepwalking army is marching on the last spark of light. Crack their gray nightmare shells with waking light, and every monster you wake turns around and fights on your side.
What’s in version 1.0
- The Prologue and Act I, “Small Light”: five hand-built stages that end in a boss fight against the Millstone.
- Wake the Millstone instead of beating him, and Dunmore joins you as a second hero for your replays.
- The Night Roads open after Stage 3: short runs where the beings you woke become cards in your draft.
- Hearthhold, a ruined village that comes back to life as everyone you wake moves in.
Play at your pace
- Waves start when you call them. Pause and build at any time.
- No energy meter and no lives to wait for.
- Every story stage can be played without paying.
How Wakenfolk is being made
Designed and built in-house by one developer. Changes that come from beta feedback are listed here with each new build.
- : We chose one tower defense game as the studio’s focus.
- : The story, the cast and the playable prototype came together in one game.
- : First iPhone build, tested by our team on TestFlight.
- : We paused our other games so Wakenfolk gets our full attention.
- : Public beta opened on TestFlight.
- : Beta build 6: a new launch screen, Apple’s own subscription screen behind Manage, the licence texts inside the game and a smaller download.
